The road to finding the perfect career can be a tricky one. If you are heading into further education this may give you more time to consider your options. However, if you are leaving school at 16 you may not be clear about which direction you want to head in.

Here are some tips that may help you make up your mind:

• Where do you want to work? Do you want to stay in your own area or do you want to use this opportunity to move on and discover a new place to work and live?

• The local press usually have a specific day for advertising jobs and national press e.g The Guardian advertise different types of jobs on different days. It is important to get applying for jobs even if you think you may not be right for it. This will give you experience of the application process.

• It may take a while to find a job that’s right for you, however, it is important to take the time and make sure you feel positive about the choices you have made.
