So you made it through revision hell and the exams are done. How did you do? It can often be confusing when results come out as to what options you have now.
If you got mostly As and Bs, congratulations! If you have already applied to go to a sixth form or college and are thinking of changing your mind about the subjects that you have chosen, it is not too late and your options are still open.
If you got mostly Cs that’s still good and you are highly likely to be accepted into further education as most colleges and sixth forms look for students with grades C and above. You will probably need 4 Cs to take up to 5 AS levels in year 12.
There are also other options open to you including Vocational A Levels, NVQ’s and modern apprenticeships. These are available in many occupational and educational areas and these could lead to employment or university at a later date.
I got Ds – Don’t worry, there are still options open to you. You could do retakes in key subjects such as English and Maths but don’t be pressured into doing this. If you feel that you are ready to get into employment you can look into some vocational options or an apprenticeship
Mostly Es and Fs – There are still options open to you. Vocational qualifications can be done on the job or full time at college. You could also talk to your Connexions personal advisor about modern apprenticeships and other career options

If you got the results you were after, that is great news, the university will write to you soon with all the information that you will need.
If you got better results than expected and are now re considering your original university choice, you will have to withdraw your application and wait for the next UCAS application opportunity.
If you didn’t get the grades that you needed for your 1st choice, call your 1st choice to make sure that they definitely won’t take you. If they tell you they will call back in a few days, make sure that you call round other universities to check whether you have a chance. If your 1st choice turns you down you still have your insurance choice.
If you didn’t get the grades you needed for any of your choices, there is still UCAS clearing which matches students to free places. Further details on this are available on the UCAS website. Check out the links page for further information.
