Revision

If you are a student and exam time is creeping up on you it is probably a good idea to start thinking about revision. Here are some tips on how to make the most of the time that you have got without burning out.

Just grabbing bits of time here and there is not a good idea, Work out what your daily routine is and write up a revision plan leaving time for regular breaks and meals

Find somewhere quiet to revise. If home is hectic you can always try your local library. Some people find revising with other students helpful but work out what is best for you.

You don’t have to go through this on your own. If you feel that it is becoming too much talk to your teachers or parents about getting support. There may be study groups at school or college.

Set daily targets and tick them off as you complete them. It will give you a boost at the end of the day to see how much you have managed to get through.

Mix the subjects up so you don’t focus on one subject for too long. Subjects that you are good at should be done next to subjects that you may struggle with. Its not a good idea to punish yourself with all your weakest subjects.

Ask a teacher what key areas you should be revising as there is nothing worse than spending ages revising just to get to the exam and realise that you should have focused on something totally different.

Don’t do too much, you can only concentrate for so long, take regular breaks for food and drink and get some fresh air. Revision should not have a bad effect on your health.

Try and get hold of past exam papers and see if you feel confident answering the questions.

Don’t make piles and piles of notes, condense the vital information as much as you can and then you can carry it round with you and keep checking through it.
