Sex

It is perfectly natural to be thinking about sex when you are coming out.

Anal Sex

Lots of people think that gay men all have anal sex and that it is the only way men can have sex. Some gay men do have anal sex but not all, and it is entirely up to the individual to work out what kind of sex they like and want to have.

You may be thinking about having anal sex or you may be worried that it might hurt. Like any sex, anal sex can take a bit of getting used to. You will have to decide what works best for you. Don’t be pressured into it if you are unsure, take your time and think about why you want to do it.

The most important thing to remember is to use a condom and lubricant every time you have anal sex. Don’t expect your partner to have condoms with him, always carry your own. You can get free condoms and lube from sexual health clinics, gay men’s health projects and some gay bars.

You may think that everyone is having anal sex and that you won’t be a proper gay man until you have done it but this is not the case. Two men can do lots of things in bed together, experiment with yourself and your partner and you will discover lots of things to enjoy.
